Gomphidae
This family belongs to the Anisoptera suborder. Only a few species live in our area and usually they are not very frequent. They are normally not more than 50 mm in length and their eyes are completely separated. Usually they feature alternating colors which, depending on the species, can be black and yellow or black and green. They occur along rivers and watercourses, but some species can also grow in still waters. While hunting, they can go far away from water, reaching wooded areas.
