Platycnemididae
This family belongs to the Zygoptera. 200 are the species all over the world: only one can be found in the area covered by this site: Platycnemis pennipes. Thinly built, Platycnemididae feature widening and flattening tibiae (feather-like). Their coloration is pale with no metallic areas. Head is three times wider than long.
Most of these species live in still or slow flowing waters, with rich vegetation. Oviposition is endophytic and eggs hatch in around two-three weeks.
